Peace.  It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work.  It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Welcome to online counselling at 4PeaceOfMind.  I’m Susan Rotella, the owner and operator of this site.  I’m a Registered Professional Counsellor, and I provide professional and traditional online counselling and psychotherapy via e-mail.

If you have found your way to my site, on some level you may be thinking that you could benefit from some help with creating a better and happier life for yourself.

In today’s average lifestyle, with so many things to do, and so many different directions to be pulled in, it’s easy to put off counselling for a later date – when you have more time, money, motivation, energy, more or less fill-in-the-blank.  But today, with private e-mail, counselling has become more convenient and affordable than ever.

Online counselling at 4PeaceOfMind will focus on the goals, issues, and concerns you bring to counselling.  Therapeutic approaches are tailored to your specific needs, and generally aim to identify blind-spots, overcome personal barriers, and build strengths.

Counselling and psychotherapy is an investment in your life that paves the way toward the kind of life that you desire and deserve – a life with happiness, sense of purpose, sense of fulfillment, and peace of mind.

Is this site right for you?

Do you sometimes wonder why the things that you are doing are not getting you closer to what you are looking for?  In life in general?  At work or school?  In relationships?  With your family?  With your friends?

Are you have trouble letting go, leaving, starting over, getting close, being in the moment?  Have you undergone a stressful life event that you are having trouble adjusting to?

Are you tense and feeling worn down by worry?  Do you wish you had more self-confidence and felt more willing to try new things?  Do you often compare yourself to others?

Are you feeling down, isolated, or alone?  Do you feel disappointed by yourself or others?  Life in general?

Do you find yourself making the same mistakes again and again?  Have you been told you could use some help?

Is there something you have been hiding?

Would you like to benefit from a better understanding?

Is online counselling right for you?

If you are currently in severe emotional, personal or medical crisis, are feeling overwhelmed, and/or are thinking of hurting or killing yourself or another, please leave this site immediately and contact your local crisis line or a trusted adult, or go to the nearest hospital emergency room for help.

If you are currently experiencing severe and debilitating levels of depression, anxiety, addiction, aggression, or other mental distress which significantly interferes with your ability to fulfill your personal responsibilities, you are likely to benefit more from traditional face-to-face therapy.  You may ask your doctor for a referral.

Online therapy is suitable if you:

  • do not meet the criteria listed above
  • feel comfortable expressing yourself through the written word
  • feel able to contain your feelings without acting in/out
  • find it inconvenient to travel to appointments
  • live in an isolated area or have limited mobilization
  • are unwilling to reveal that you are in therapy and do not want to risk being seen at a therapist’s office
  • are uncomfortable speaking face-to-face about your concerns
